Seeking a Part-Time ​​​​Community Mental Health Intake & Operations Consultant

Position: Community Mental Health Intake & Operations Consultant

Contract: 6 month consultancy, maximum 15 hours per week

Compensation: Commensurate with experience; starting rate $35 per hour

Location: Remote, based anywhere within UTC-8 through UTC+5

Context

As the volume of threats (political, operational, physical) against digital rights activists grow and worsen in their severity, these activists need individual and group psychosocial support to remain resilient against this intense threat landscape and continue to mitigate threats to internet health.

The role

The Community Mental Health Intake & Operations Consultant will be responsible for supporting the effective intake of digital rights activists seeking community mental health services, as well as the operations and implementation of the Community Mental Health program. Ultimately, this role will ensure efficient, inclusive, and safe service delivery of the program’s offerings.  

We are looking for someone who has a strong understanding of service delivery for client needs, is passionate about supporting and improving equity in access to mental health care for vulnerable groups, and is able to be flexible to accommodate changing needs of clients, staff, and the program.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Client management and service delivery

    • Lead screenings of clients to identify those who are at high risk (suicidal tendencies, in a state of psychosis, etc.) in close coordination with the Director of Community Health program

      • For those who are high-risk or in immediate need of assistance, refer to another practice or helpline that is appropriate for their context.  

    • Ensure that clients have provided all required forms and documentation in advance of their session with their assigned therapist. 

    • Triage any received questions or inquiries to program email addresses.

    • Managing session waitlists, including communicating with individuals once we have availability or are at capacity for sessions.

    • Define and implement better clinical and intake processes as required, in collaboration with the Director of Community Health program.

  2. Work with the client, the therapists, and the Director of the Community Mental Health program to schedule 1-1 and/or small group sessions. 

    • Check in with psychosocial providers and the Director of Community Health program, ensuring they have the support they need. This will be via Mattermost, one-to-one check-ins, and other formats.

    • Facilitate Zoom setup for the psychosocial providers and Director of Community, ensuring that their settings follow the security and privacy protocols established by the Chief Security Officer and other technical support as needed. 

    • Ensure psychosocial providers and other program consultants submit all required documentation as part of their contract requirements.

    • Work with the Director of Community Mental Health program to implement solutions to any problems or obstacles as they arise. 

    • Track session attendance.

  3. Manage program documentation

    • Implement any design changes and/or updates of the public-facing website under the direction of the Director of the Community Mental Health program

    • Create and/or update any operational documentation, including but not limited to: how-to guides & manuals on key tech platforms, expectations for clients and therapists, templates for standard communications.

    • Build and maintain a repository of trusted referral networks for high-risk clients with the Director of Community Health program.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and/or experience

    • Licensing or certification in a mental health / mental health operations discipline is highly desired. 

  • Previous experience in a healthcare or mental healthcare setting, or experience in crisis centers or hotlines.

  • Demonstrated experience in on-the-spot problem solving or triaging. 

  • Specific experience in screening of high-risk individuals. 

  • Highly organized, with comfort in multi-tasking as needed. 

  • Comfortable working in a remote office environment, and can be flexible to accommodate emerging needs or situations. 

  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion. 

  • Ability to stay calm under pressure

  • Previous experience in managing a CRM or the backend of a managed website platform (eg: Squarespace, etc.)
