Regional Monthly Meetups
Community-owned and lead regional meetups bring together folks to share, connect, seek help and build mutual aid.
Through a celebratory and collaborative lens, regional meetups provide a space to strengthen networks and be informed of new developments and news. The focus is supporting the humans behind digital rights and internet freedom work. To make these meetups more accessible, we take notes of each meetup to allow for asynchronous participation.
Community Knowledge Share (CKS) Workshops
CKS workshops are online workshops lead by digital rights community leaders
Given the diversity of our community and their needs, CKS workshops focus on diverse topics that matter to and effect digital rights defenders and internet freedom advocates around the world. Workshops last 1-2 hours, and are interactive, allowing the community to both learn and brainstorm on issues collectively.
Coffee Talk Interview Series
Coffee Talk is series were we get real with the people we most admire leading our movements.
The digital rights and internet freedom movements are powered by passionate, smart and inspiring people. We serve up some sweets and coffee and get to know what makes them tick, what in their upbringing lead them to their work, and the wisdom they can impart for future generations.
Weekly Glitter Meetup
Glitter Meetup (GM) is the weekly town hall of the digital rights and Internet Freedom communities.
Our weekly, text based meetup attracts digital rights defenders from all corners of the world!! It takes place every Thursday at 9:00am EST/1:00 PM UTC on our Mattermost instance. We also take notes of every meetup, to ensure updates and news are available to everyone, regardless of time zones or internet setup.
Annual Digital Rights Gathering
Our annual global gathering of digital rights defenders is considered one of the largest, most diverse and inclusive unconference in the world. It brings together over 1,000+ digital rights defenders from over 100+ countries who are fighting online surveillance and censorship online. The week-long, community designed and lead event features
+ Over 220+ workshops, sessions, social events, trainings and more.
+ 60+ partners including civil society organizations, grass root networks, companies, and technology tools
+ One of the few events in the technology world where women and GNC make up 50% of participants and speakers
The team behind the event is also recognized internationally for their pioneering tools and strategies used to securely organize the digital rights community, and create create inclusive, safe, and positive space that foment collaboration across regional and discipline lines.
