Resources Managing Nonprofit Organizations
Digital rights organizations are often under-resourced, with many organizations lacking the structures, resources, tools and knowledge to properly implement best practices in regards to nonprofit management. Part of this is because the Digital rights space is still an emerging field, with many orgs and projects being relatively new, as compared to other fields. In addition to this, because of the privacy and security concerns many of us have, at times we struggle with attempting to implement best practices without putting the communities we serve at risk.
Concerns and specific questions around resources available to nonprofits and grassroots organizations for management have been voiced during many of our recent meetups. To help, we’ve put together a few suggestions for free-and-go resources including templates for a diversity of nonprofit management issues, questions for potential hires , exit interviews, performance improvement conversations and methodologies.
Below we outline some of the resources available, as well as templates that can be used to get started with managing a nonprofit or grassroots organization. We have broken them into the following sections: General Management Guides , Financial Management, and Technology. We will be updating this blogpost routinely, as our community members recommend more.
